I've been around music and film my whole life, and love watching and reading about all of the action backstage and behind the scenes.

From the independent film producer who has to make his or her day despite inclement weather, to the guitar tech changing the umpteenth set of strings on the bus at 2 AM, I'm fascinated by these people and their stories.

If you've ever wondered who some of those people are in the long list of credits at the end of a movie and how they got there, or who those sweaty folks in black T-shirts are doing on-stage before a concert or what the hell a record producer actually does, then this podcast is for you.
Thanks for listening.

Ryan Philip George is a guitar and keyboard tech and one of the founders of thistourlife.com. Ryan is a graduate of Temple University and got his start in the music business in Philadelphia at Centerstaging in 2001, where he became well versed in all aspects of Backline.

A few short years later he accepted his first touring gig as keyboard/computer tech on Beckʼs Guero tour. Since then, he has been touring full-time for such artists as Jack White, Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire, MGMT, Death Cab For Cutie, Macklemore and more.

In 2014, he began collaborating with his partner on creating a new way to look at the world of music touring, and thistourlife.com was born.

Ryan curates and contributes research-supported articles focused on the music touring lifestyle. When his schedule permits, he also gives talks at industry related conferences on the subject of health & wellness in touring. He continues to exhaustively explore, experiment and implement ways to optimise a better quality of life on tour and at home.
